Going Postal

Jose and I went over to check out the National Postal Museum at the Smithsonian. It was awesome! We looked at exhibits on The Pony Express, Ben Franklin, etc. The most interesting part of the museum was the collection of stamps. We looked at stamps from China, Japan, Russia, Italy, France... you name it. They were amazing. We noticed that a lot of the stamps from foreign contries showed war time scenes with battles and suffering while the US stamps did not. We looked at the US stamps during WWI and WWII and they either didn't have war-time stamps at all or were stamps of peace. Also, the stamps from Italy during WWII had Hitler on them. It kind-of took my by surprise. Some of the most beautiful stamps were from China and Japan. They had brilliant colors - bright gold and red and blue.
