In Memory of Derrick Grayson

A friend of mine from EFY was killed in a terrible car accident last Monday while taking his new brother in law to the MTC. Derrick Grayson (also known as one of the "Tennessee Trio") was an amazing guy that always had a smile on his face (except in this picture) and had a magnetic personality that you couldn't help but be drawn to. He just got married two months ago :(

Ben Hyde, shared with another one of our friends that his family who had never been sealed before becuase his dad wasn't a member and passed away when Derrick was 14 years old, were sealed together a weekbefore Derrick passed away! Ben's dad, who was basically Derrick's dad as well stood in proxy for Derrick's father. This was the first time that all the family was able to get together in awhile. One ofhis sisters (he has four) got married the day after the Family sealing. Ben would like to think that he is now teaching his father the gospel.

I remember when the Tennessee Trio got up to teach all of the youth the "All-Star NBA Line Dance" at EFY! Those guys were so awesome! I had so much fun watching them run around the gym so that everyone could always see them. They all had so much energy (which is hard to come by at the end of the day at EFY!) I also remember Derrick and Jessica Mabry playing catch with a foam football in the cafeteria during lunch! She was my roomie that week and those two were very close friends. Derrick was the model EFY counselor. He got the youth energized about everything- including the gospel!
