I drove to Mt. Rushmore because I was close enough to go and I had the time. It is a beautiful American Monuement and definitely worth going. It was even more rewarding because on the drive I listened to the book "John Adams" by David McCullough and was captivated by stories about George Washington the first President of the United States and General in the Continental Army and Thomas Jefferson, the author of the Declaration of Independance and a long time friend of John Adams (even though they were from different parties).

This is the first glimpse of Mt. Rushmore.
